Reconciliation
Acknowledgement of Country
We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia, and we pay our respects to elders past, present and future.
Reconciliation Action Plan
We're proud to release our 2024-2026 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which focuses on strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through increased and consistent engagement, commercial partnerships, broadened cultural understanding and a focus on improving outcomes.
Our Reconciliation Journey
Ampol's engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples has occurred through our Ampol Foundation and their community partners and our first Innovate RAP that we launched in 2018.
Our second Innovate RAP continued this journey of improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their communities and their businesses, as we reshaped our business under a refreshed purpose, strategy and brand.
Our third Innovate RAP has been underpinned by a refreshed approach to representation, equity and inclusion which strengthens Ampol's ability to power better opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and businesses.
As a large national company that has a deep history in modern Australia, we understand our responsibility to be a sustainable, diverse business and to connect with others to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and create opportunities for equitable participation in Australian society. Key initiatives that will be delivered through our RAP cover the areas of employment, procurement, cultural awareness and community engagement.
Our Artwork
The Ampol RAP artwork ‘Journey Pathways’ depicts the diversity of both Country and culture throughout Australia. The Creation Spirit, represented by the Rainbow Serpent, moves across the land creating new and exciting pathways to explore.
The Creation Spirit forms the landscape and defines culture, establishes ceremony and lore. The different markings represent different lands, cultures and countries within Australia.
The central circle is the Ampol community which connects each and every community across the nation. Pathways lead to and from communities and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The engraved rocks represent ancient knowledge of land and Country which represents the values of Ampol.
