Preventing and detecting fraud with AmpolCard and myAmpol

Whether you’re running a small or large vehicle fleet, sometimes time gets away from you and you don’t have the manpower or the minutes to go through every expense in detail. That’s when the risk of fraudulent use of an AmpolCard can increase, and the potential for unauthorised or non-business card use can slip through. With myAmpol your online management tool you can easily take charge of your on-road costs.

Set individual transaction limits for your drivers 

Setting transaction limits in myAmpol is one of the quickest and easiest ways to minimise the risk of fraudulent card use, while ensuring your drivers have the convenience of filling up when they need to. We encourage you to consider your current fuel usage and spend, and set or amend your transaction limits accordingly.

Check and update your transaction limits today. It’s easy;

  • Log into myAmpol

  • Click Fuel Cards at the top of the page and you’ll be taken to the Fuel Cards account management page

  • Click Card Management

  • Click Maintain Card

  • Search for cards associated with your account

  • Under Card Usage Options you can edit the daily and monthly transaction dollar limits. Once these limits are reached, the card will decline further transactions until the limit resets. 

 

You can also select the type of fuel products eligible to be paid for using each fuel card. You could for example, nominate petrol or Diesel Fuel only, depending on the vehicle the AmpolCard is linked to. This could help prevent unauthorised use of the AmpolCard for non-work vehicles, while helping to manage and forecast fuel spending more efficiently.  

 

Setting card usage options can go a long way to prevent overspending. Through myAmpol you can select preferences for non-fuel transactions with AmpolCard. These may include vehicle-related purchases or even food, coffee and other items from Ampol Foodary. It’s your call.

 

Run a range of reports to run your business better

 

Running myAmpol reports take the guesswork out of managing vehicle expenses. These reports can provide essential insights into when and how your team are using their AmpolCards. Simply click on ‘Reports’ in the Fuel Cards menu to explore the options.

At an individual driver level, you can run reports that can help to identify accidental or fraudulent non-work related Fuel Card use. These are just some of the types of reports you can run:

  • More than 1 fill on the same day

  • Fills greater than vehicle fuel capacity

  • Odometer readings that don’t match fuel usage

  • Transactions outside regular business hours

 

Once you’ve set up Reports in myAmpol, you can schedule them to be delivered directly to your email inbox. Information and insight at your fingertips not only saves time on fleet management, but helps you take charge of vehicle expenses while minimising the risk of fraud and overspending.
