Ampol’s supply chain capabilities supporting Alcoa
DOWNLOAD PDFAmpol’s supply chain capabilities supporting Alcoa of Australia
Ampol recently demonstrated the ability to respond to emergency fuel requirements when Alcoa of Australia requested an emergency supply of diesel to power their Pinjarra and Kwinana powerhouses.
On the 5th of January 2023, we were informed of a shortfall in gas supply to power Alcoa’s facilities and the possibility of a substantial volume of diesel being required.
In response, we promptly enacted established processes and formed an Ampol Emergency Management Team (EMT), comprising our Commercial Sales, Technical and Product Solutions, and Scheduling/Distribution Teams.
Ampol EMT team worked closely with Alcoa's key stakeholders to establish demand requirements and ensure that Supply and Distribution stakeholders delivered on key timelines.
Uninterrupted operations
Once we received confirmation that diesel deliveries would be required, the Mobilisation Plan was enacted, and 14 trucks were assigned to the task of making 45 deliveries, each carrying an average of 80,000 litres of diesel.
From the 8th to the 13th of January, Ampol successfully delivered over 3.3 million litres of diesel to Alcoa’s sites without any incident, ensuring uninterrupted operations to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana sites.
Our complete control over our entire fuel supply chain across Australia provides us with visibility, which enables critical decision-making and supply chain changes as required.
Ampol is committed to ensuring the safe and timely delivery of fuel to our customers, especially during emergencies.
