Ampol Reaches $1 Million Fundraising Milestone for the Smith Family

Sydney –Thursday 17 August

Ampol has thanked the loyal support of its customers for donating over $444,000 for The Smith Family throughout its recent retail network fundraising campaign during July.

Ampol has now raised over $1.1 million for The Smith Family through retail network donations over the past three years following the success of this milestone campaign.

The contributions from the purchase of select products and over-the-counter donations at Ampol Foodary and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo stores will enable 814 more students to attend The Smith Family's out-of-school Learning Clubs and be provided with targeted educational support based on individual needs.

Ampol, Executive General Manager, Retail Australia, Kate Thomson said: "Ampol is thrilled to have raised over $1.1 million for The Smith Family over the last three years.

"Ampol is dedicated to improving access to education among Australian youth. We believe that our The Smith Family fundraising will have a long-lasting impact particularly in the communities in which we operate within.

"We remain thankful to our customers and our retail team members and supplier partners for their ongoing support of our retail campaigns to help raise crucial funds for those in need."

The Smith Family CEO Doug Taylor said funds raised through Ampol’s in-store retail campaign will ensure the national children’s education charity is able to continue supporting students experiencing disadvantage.

"Ampol’s contribution will help students participate in our Learning Clubs that help develop their academic skills," Mr Taylor said.

"Out-of-school programs like these can be life-changing for children in need, helping them to keep up and stay motivated with their learning. Ultimately, we want those students we support to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty and to create better futures for themselves.

"We are proud to partner with Ampol, and grateful that this much-valued partnership is providing such significant financial support helping young Australians reach their potential," Mr Taylor added.

"Our evaluations show Learning Clubs demonstrating positive outcomes for students including academic engagement, interpersonal skills and increased confidence.

"We'd like to thank Ampol and their loyal customers for supporting The Smith Family once again this year."
