Ampol Foundation Hits $1 Million Retail Milestone Following Successful SLSA Campaign

Sydney – Monday 12 December

Ampol is proud to announce that the Ampol Foundation has raised over $1 million through its retail network for community partners throughout 2022 following a successful fundraising campaign with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA).

Thanks to the generosity of customers and supplier partners, Ampol's retail network raised over $400,000 for SLSA throughout November and early December. The campaign involved donations of 10c or $1 donations per item sold from a selected range of products at Ampol stores as well as counter donations.

The money raised for SLSA has ensured continued funding for vital upgrades and replacement of lifesaving equipment, training of volunteer surf lifesavers and public water safety education.

Earlier this year, Ampol Foundation raised over $370,000 for The Smith Family's Learning Clubs program as part of the 2022 Winter Appeal retail store donation drive.

Again utilising Ampol's retail network, the Ampol Foundation also helped raise almost $250,000 in April for the Sebastian Foundation to help support the mental health of over 8000 young Australians through their Open Parachute initiative.

Ampol Executive General Manager, Retail Australia, Kate Thomson thanked customers for helping the Ampol Foundation's commitment to powering better journeys for communities.

"Ampol is committed to giving back to communities across the country, and by leveraging our retail network and generosity of our customers, we are proud to be able to make a significant contribution to our fantastic Ampol Foundation charity partners,” Thomson said.

“Funds raised this year have supported increased access to vital mental health programs in schools, along with study and learning support for disadvantaged students across the country.

"Our November campaign with SLSA promoted water safety, and this $400,000 donation comes at a time where our beaches are at their busiest.

"I'd like to thank all our customers throughout Ampol's retail network for their donations and ongoing support toward the Ampol Foundation and key partner organisations. I would also like to thank our retail team members for their efforts across the year."

SLSA CEO Adam Weir said the funds raised would go a long way to support volunteer surf lifesavers' efforts on beaches and within communities this summer and beyond.

"We are extremely grateful for the outstanding support shown by Ampol, its retail team members and of course the Australian public who got behind this fundraising initiative and contributed so generously to Surf Life Saving," Weir said.

"Support from partners like Ampol and kind donations from the community help us provide vital training to our volunteer surf lifesavers, repair and replace rescue gear and equipment, and deliver important water safety education to the community, so together we can save lives."
