Ampol Energy Now Powering Homes in South East Queensland
Thursday 10 August
Ampol has continued its mission to power better journeys by officially unveiling its retail home electricity solution, Ampol Energy, for customers in the South-East Queensland Energex network.
For the first time anywhere in Australia, the introduction of Ampol Energy will allow South-East Queensland consumers to utilise Ampol's entire existing product portfolio, including Amplify Premium Fuels and AmpCharge.
Ampol Energy is another step forward for Ampol's Future Energy strategy and follows the introduction of its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, AmpCharge last year.
Ampol will roll out EV fast-charging infrastructure at more than 25 of its retail sites across South-East Queensland over the coming 18 months as part of its national target to deliver more than 300 charging bays over 2023/24 to over 100 sites.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Matt Halliday reaffirmed the important role Ampol has to play in ensuring customers' energy needs are met as they evolve.
"Ampol's purpose is 'Powering better journeys today and tomorrow', and our move into the electricity market takes us to where journeys start – at home," Halliday said.
"We are following our customers lead, and we know that their needs are changing – from the way they get about, the energy they consume, to their expectations and what they want from a product or service.
"Our customers want a simple solution, and this move will allow Ampol to power our customers on the road and now at home.
"This is an exciting milestone for Ampol and is a natural progression as part of our role in Australia’s energy transition."
Ampol's authorisation to become an electricity and natural gas retailer across the NEM was approved in June last year by the Australian Energy Regulator and Victorian Essential Service Commission in April 2023. A small employee test and learn pilot was conducted prior to customer uptake commencing in March 2023 in South-East Queensland.
The introductory offer to Ampol's integrated home electricity and fuel offer through Ampol Energy will see customers benefit from a 10c/L discount on up to 1,500 litres of eligible regular and Amplify Premium fuels per year at over 600 participating Ampol sites.
