AmpCharge EV Charger Bays Now Available at East Village
Sydney – Monday 21 October
Ampol has unveiled six new AmpCharge electric vehicle (EV) charging bays at East Village Shopping Centre in Zetland.
The installation of the first AmpCharge EV charging bays outside of Ampol's retail convenience network is part of a partnership with Mirvac, which was announced in June last year.
The AmpCharge EV charging bays at East Village are the beginning of Ampol's planned rollout to third-party portfolio sites, providing customers with greater access to best-in-class EV charging infrastructure at convenient locations across Australia.
"The launch of our first ‘at-destination’ AmpCharge EV chargers at East Village is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting customers through the energy transition," Ampol Executive General Manager, Commercial Fuels and Energy, Brent Merrick said.
"Having just unveiled our 100th AmpCharge public charger bay, we recognise our electric vehicle charging ecosystem has the potential to play a critical role in supporting customers reduce their transport emissions.
“As our customers look to alternative mobility technologies, we are well placed to support them on their journeys."
Mirvac General Manager – Retail, Alison Flemming said the installation of the first AmpCharge EV charging bays at East Village Shopping Centre in Zetland is a huge milestone for the partnership.
"Since first installing charging capabilities in our retail centres over seven years ago, EV sales have continued to grow across Australia with more consumers embracing a sustainable future. As a result, we have seen a significant rise in the usage of our charging stations with a 60% increase in customer utilisation in the past year and charging bays often at capacity," Ms Flemming said.
"We believe it's our responsibility to provide our customers with convenient access to fast and reliable EV charging services across our retail portfolio and we are thrilled to see the first AmpCharge EV charging bays up and running at East Village in Sydney. The AmpCharge bays will offer 150kw super charging services providing our customers with greater access to best-in-class EV charging infrastructure with six new electric car bays on offer for our customers."
