Ampol has named Sian Williams from Western Australia's Lake Joondalup Baptist College as the national winner of the 2024 Best All Rounder competition.

Now in its 39th year, the Ampol Best All Rounder award saw 2,000 high schools participate nationally in 2024. This is the third year Ampol has recognised state and national best all-rounder winners for exceptional achievements.

"The Ampol Best All Rounder Award has been a key initiative to powering better journeys for students nationwide for almost four decades," Ampol Executive General Manager, People and Culture Meaghan Davis said.

"This yearly recognition celebrates the accomplishments of students across all endeavours, including arts and culture, on the sporting field, in the classroom and within their own community.

"Everyone at Ampol wishes to congratulate all of our winners, and in particular, Sian and her well-deserved accolade of 2024 Ampol Best All Rounder national winner."

Sian's commitment, leadership and service has led to her deserving national Ampol Best All Rounder honour.

Demonstrating a brilliant track record academically and in the wider community, Sian received the 2024 Auspire Community Citizen Award for establishing the 'Kidzucate Take-A-Stand Against Bullying' program.

Sian also volunteers with Western Australia Child Safety Services, prepares meals for Ronald McDonald House and is a coach to younger students in various sports.

As part of her recognition, Sian has won a laptop, a $5000 cash grant and a $1000 AmpolCash gift card, in addition to a $5000 grant for Lake Joondalup Baptist College.

Commenting on Sian’s achievement, Kimberly Eyre, Head of Future Directions, Lake Joondalup Baptist College, said: "Sian is a conscientious academic performer and her ability to perform at a high academic standard while also participating in sports both at school and in the community clearly establishes her as an all-rounder.

"Sian also embraces the meaning of service in her community and beyond through her Kidzucate initiative, a bullying preventive organisation for our youth.

"Sian truly embodies the qualities of an all-rounder, demonstrating integrity and dedication in everything she does, and has always shown herself to be a helpful, reliable, friendly, and mature role model at Lake Joondalup Baptist College and beyond."

Throughout December, Ampol named seven state winners of the Ampol Best All Rounder awards. The winning recipients received a $2000 cash grant and a $1000 AmpolCash gift card, in addition to a $2000 grant for their respective school. For the first time ever, a student from the Northern Territory has been recognised with this accolade.

The 2024 Ampol Best All Rounder Award state winners are:

  • Australian Capital Territory: Maeve Scurr, Kingsford Smith School
  • New South Wales: Joshua Perez, William Carey Christian School
  • Northern Territory: Abby Duncan, Palmerston College
  • Queensland: Savanah Mahony, Coolum State High School
  • South Australia: Tom Braunack, Rostrevor College
