Apollo Bay Update Halo Go

17 June 2020

Later today the Caltex Apollo Bay site will temporarily close for 12-14 weeks while upgrade works are delivered.

This project represents a significant investment that is required to modernise the site and to ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably for the local community and visitors well into the future. It will reopen with new fuel infrastructure, an enhanced convenience offering and the new Ampol branding. Delivery of these works has been timed so the site can reopen ahead of the peak summer holiday period.

We would like to thank all community stakeholders for your feedback and patience as we begin to deliver these important works for the community. We would also like to thank you for your input as we have continued to explore further options to support the local community and visitors while the works are being delivered.

Pleasingly, we have been able to uncover additional funding from outside the project, with in-kind support from council, to extend the HaloGo fuel service to three days per week. The operation of this extended service comes at a significant cost to Caltex however we want to ensure we can provide some alternative for the local community while works are being delivered.

HaloGo will now provide a two-tier service across three days per week, as follows:

  • Pop-up fuel service: Thursday to Saturday, 10.00am – 4.00pm, initially at McLaren Parade, between Great Ocean Road and Nelson Street
  • Fuel delivery service: Thursday to Saturday, 7.00pm – 10.00pm, booked via the HaloGo app

The pop-up service will also be available this Sunday, 21 June.

A $5 service fee per vehicle will apply to both services, and a $10.50 fee will apply should anyone need an emergency refill. This fee is included in the revenue for the service and is vital to ensure it has sufficient funding to proceed.

Residents of Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek are still encouraged to refuel when out of town. Businesses are also asked to keep their customers and guests updated and encourage visitors to refuel on their way into town. The HaloGo service will remain under review by Caltex, Colac Otway Shire Council, HaloGo and the Chamber of Commerce and may be adjusted if deemed necessary.

Lastly, due to the change to HaloGo service days, any business that had discussed delivery on a Tuesday as previously planned, please contact HaloGo to discuss alternate arrangements for later in the week.

Again, thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to re-opening our upgraded facility for all locals and visitors.
